Midlife Wellness and
Hormone Optimization
Does This Sound Like You?
You are exhausted — not just tired. You cannot think clearly the way you used to. Your body feels unfamiliar. You have been to your doctor.
Your labs came back normal. You have been told this is just aging. But something is wrong. And you are right to trust that feeling.
Standard blood tests measure total hormone levels, which can look completely normal even when the biologically available fraction is critically low. Most conventional providers never measure free hormone levels, SHBG, thyroid function in full, or gut health markers that directly affect how you feel every day.
We do.
This is exactly who we see — and exactly what we find. These are not inevitable consequences of aging. They are symptoms with identifiable causes and evidence-based solutions. We take the time to find yours.
A Different Kind of Evaluation
At BeautyEtc, we look at the whole picture , not just one system in isolation. For most women, the real answer lies at the intersection of hormones, thyroid function, and gut health. All three are deeply connected. All three are often under-evaluated in standard care.
We go significantly deeper than a standard panel. We evaluate your full hormone picture — including estradiol, progesterone, testosterone (total and free), DHEA-S, and SHBG. We assess complete thyroid function — not just TSH, but Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies. And where gut symptoms are present, we evaluate the underlying factors driving inflammation, absorption, and systemic wellbeing.
We calculate your free hormone levels, not just total, because what matters clinically is the hormone your body can actually use. For many women, this single distinction is the difference between being told everything is normal and finally understanding why they feel the way they do.
This Is About More Than How You Feel Today
Hormone optimization is not just about managing symptoms. When initiated at the right time and individualized to your biology, hormone therapy has been shown to support long-term health in ways that matter deeply as we age.
Current evidence from the North American Menopause Society and major research institutions supports that optimized hormone levels — initiated during the appropriate window may:
- Support cardiovascular health and reduce risk of heart disease when started early in menopause
- Help preserve bone density and reduce the risk of fractures from osteoporosis
- Support cognitive function and may reduce risk of memory decline when initiated at the right time
- Maintain muscle strength, body composition, and physical resilience as you age
This is what longevity medicine means in practice — not just living longer, but aging with health, strength, and clarity. At BeautyEtc, hormone optimization is approached through this lens: not symptom management alone, but

She believes that how you look and how you feel are the same conversation — and that every patient deserves a provider who is looking at the whole picture.
Hormones and Aesthetics — More Connected Than You Think
Estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone affect your skin, your hair, your body composition, and your collagen production. Women undergoing hormone optimization often find that their aesthetic treatments — Dysport, dermal filler, Sculptra, microneedling — produce better and longer-lasting results when their hormones are optimized first.
At BeautyEtc, you don't have to choose between looking your best and feeling your best. We address both because they are inseparable.
FAQs
I've been told my labs are normal but I still feel terrible. Can you help?
Yes — this is exactly who we see most. Standard labs measure total hormone levels, which can appear normal even when the biologically available fraction is critically low. We go deeper — measuring free hormone levels, full thyroid panels, gut health markers, and multiple factors that standard labs routinely miss.
What is SHBG and why does it matter?
SHBG stands for Sex Hormone Binding Globulin — a protein that binds to your hormones and renders them biologically inactive. When SHBG is elevated, your total testosterone can look normal on paper while your free — usable — testosterone is critically low. This is one of the most commonly missed findings in hormone evaluation, and one of the most important things we measure.
Do you look at thyroid and gut health as well as hormones?
Yes — always. Hormones, thyroid function, and gut health are deeply interconnected. Thyroid dysfunction can mimic or worsen hormone imbalance symptoms, and gut health directly affects how hormones are metabolized and absorbed. We evaluate all three as part of a complete picture.
Is hormone therapy safe?
For most healthy women in their 40s and 50s, initiated within 10 years of menopause onset, current evidence supports that hormone therapy is safe and beneficial. The risks and benefits are highly individual — which is exactly why a thorough evaluation and individualized protocol matter. We discuss your complete health picture before making any recommendations.
Do you use hormone pellets?
No. We use transdermal hormone preparations — applied to the skin — rather than pellets. We discuss the right delivery method for your individual biology at your consultation.
I'm not sure if I'm perimenopausal or menopausal. Does that matter?
It matters clinically — but it doesn't matter for getting started. We see women at every stage of the midlife hormone transition, from the first subtle changes in their early 40s through postmenopause. Wherever you are, we meet you there.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No referral is needed. You can book directly through our online scheduling system. We are happy to communicate with your PCP directly with your permission.
How is this different from what my OB/GYN or PCP does?
Most primary care and OB/GYN providers use standard reference ranges designed to identify disease, not optimize function. We spend significantly more time with each patient, measure a broader panel of markers, and create individualized protocols rather than standard prescriptions.
Do you take insurance?
We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. Pricing is available upon request or at your consultation.
